Evolution SME Liability

Evolution Liability is a broad multi-line specialist liability coverage for a range of businesses available exclusively through SHA's Pocket Underwriter. Years ago, Broadform Liability was seen as the widest, most progressive liability coverage around. That’s all been changed with the release of Evolution Liability.

Comprehensive multiline specialist cover all in one wording and all available at the click of a button. 28 specialist covers including broadform public and products cover, directors and officers, personal accident, gradual pollution, property being worked upon, recall & guarantee and even personal accident.

Remember, this modular insurance product is aimed at SME's so be sure to read below to find out what the qualification criteria are.

Qualifying criteria for Evolution Liability

To qualify for Evo Liability, the insured business must:

- have annual turnover below R50m

- have less than 100 employees

- have less than R200m in assets

- have an annual wageroll of under R10m

Note that if your client or business is outside the above, you can of course place business through our specialist liability division here

If you're a broker using our Pocket Underwriter to do the quotation, the system will alert you of these parameters so it's impossible to make a mistake.

Evo Liability FAQs

What happens if my business is above the SME threshold?

If the insured's business has a turnover above R50m per annum or requires more than the maximum limits and sub-limits available, then our specialist liability team will take care of the insured's needs

Can I add D&O to my Evo Liability policy without taking the other covers?

Our Pocket Underwriter system will alert you (the broker) if a cover is dependent on any other cover also being chosen. In the case of Directors and Officers liability, no other cover is necessary.

Why is personal accident cover available in Evo Liability?

You are right to question this because it's quite unusual to have a liability policy with GPA cover in it. When the policy was being drafted we realised that many employers are under the impression that the employers' liability section picks up injury claims to employees. This is really not the case as COID remains the only option outside of the personal accident sphere to claim for injuries. In fact the COID legislation makes it practically impossible for an employer to be sued by an employee for injuries.

We thought it would be beneficial to give employers the option to provide much needed cover for injuries to staff to supplement what was already provided by the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) fund.

Is the cyber cover in Evo Liability the same as standalone cyber cover?

Cyber insurance policies generally provide a combination of first and third party insurance covers. Some businesses have more of a liability exposure, especially where they store confidential personal information. The Evo Liability cyber cover is only third party liability coverage. For comprehensive coverage you should chat to our cyber team.
